Saturday Crafters is a group of crafty people who come
together one Saturday a month to be creative! This is a time and place for
adults to work on their art and craft projects, share ideas, learn new things
and visit with friends, old and new.
Bring your lunch, projects & supplies.
All arts and crafts welcome!
Quilting, painting, knitting, scrapbooking,
sewing, etc....!
Location: Essex Retirees Building 32 Russell
Street, Essex
Time: 10am – 3pm
Fee: $5
This is our last Saturday Crafters before summer break, so we like to celebrate
with a pot luck lunch! Bring your
favourite dish to share and sweet treats are always welcome J.
Last Saturday Crafters Teresa was making awesome progress on
her very first quilt! Barb was out
painting up a storm in preparation for a showing at the Nancy John Art Gallery
in Windsor. Pam was enjoying another relaxing day of colouring and we had lots
of other sewing and knitting going on!

Schedule Change for September Saturday Crafters
|
We
will not be having our regularly scheduled Saturday Crafters in September due
to “vacation scheduling” conflicts.
With
that being said, our first Saturday Crafters back will be on October 1st
!
Why are we having
a Saturday Crafters on October 1st you ask? Because that weekend is Culture Days
Weekend!
Culture Days is a Canada wide
event that promotes and encourages Canadians to get involved in arts, crafts
and culture in their neighbourhoods.
Saturday Crafters on October 1st will be FREE of charge for
all who attend and we are hoping to have a crafty demo or two as well. Stay tuned for details.

Another Yarn Bombing!
Also for Culture Days, on Friday September 30th
, we will do another yarn bombing! This
year our creative yarn display will be on the fence at the Essex Retirees. This is our starting point so far, but
hopefully we can expand up Centre Street as well.
We are planning on doing a yarn “scene” with branches, leaves, maybe
rocks, pumpkins, birds and a person or two!
We’re going to get creative with this one! At least 75% of the knitted and crocheted
pieces will be stitched together into scarves, hats, blankets and mittens for
local charities after the display is taken down.
As of right now, here are some starting guidelines of sizes of knitted
and crocheted pieces we would be looking for:
§ granny squares
5”-7” square
§ scarves with a
length of 75” x 5”-7” wide, brown for branches
§ flowers, leaves,
animals
These
sizes can be bigger or smaller, whatever you are comfortable making. Pieces can be folded and/or bent for
shaping. Get creative and picture your
little part of the scene!
Remember,
if you donate parts and pieces to the yarn bombing, please be willing to stitch
them together into scraves and blankets, after it is taken down, to be donated.
Please
keep in touch with us if you plan on knitting or crocheting for the yarn
bombing – let us know what you are making and we will keep track of what to expect.
